Infectious Diseases

The APA partnered with the Center for HIV Law & Policy and the Williams Institute to create a white paper on the criminalization of HIV and other infectious diseases. This paper is the final product to come from the White House Working Meeting on the Prosecution of HIV Criminal Laws that took place last year. This meeting, held in collaboration with the Center for HIV Law & Policy and the White House Office of National AIDS Policy, was convened to discuss aligning state criminal laws related to infectious diseases to the latest scientific evidence. The goal is to reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination and align the criminal justice response with public health goals.
